Exhibition of Herend Workshop of Fine Arts

  • 01. October 2008. - 12. October 2008.
Synthesis

With the support of the Manufactory, the group was formed of enthusiastic amateurs, employees and retirees of the Manufactory, during the fall of 1999. Painter Tibor Kádár, born in Kolozsvár, was asked to head the Workshop. In the beginning the Workshop started out with 6-8 people, gradually expanding each year with colleagues with a desire to create and possessing the required skills. The group steadily increased and in a few years' time they were awarded the title of the county's best creative team, in 2005. In 2008 they received the title again, and at the county semi-finals and the judging process of presented pieces of the amateur competition held in every three years by Atcium, 12 works were selected to make their nationwide debut. This year Tibor Kádár received the accolade of Best Teacher. The group regularly attends painter camps and participates in exhibitions. The group is characterised by diversity, both in terms of technique as well as themes, not to mention age, ranging from artists in their twenties all the way to some in their sixties. 100 year-old István Freund, who had passed away recently, was a member of the Workshop.
