The Moser firm was established by Ludwig Moser (1833-1916) in 1857 in the spa town of Karlovy Vary - the "Baths of Emperor Charles IV" - as an engraving studio serving Europe's royalty. Moser was appointed Purveyor of Glass to the Austrian Imperial Court of Franz Josef and England's King Edward VII. His growing reputation soon established his position as a major Bohemian manufacturer of artistic glass. In 1893 the completion of Moser's own glassworks enabled the transition from intricately enameled glassware to independent, technically perfect production, complimented by innovative techniques in cutting, engraving and coloring. This emphasis on excellence was quickly recognized in international competitions and by social prominent and loyal patrons.
Moser products, outstanding in their purity, brilliance, elegance and classical proportions, soon became the proud possessions of royalty, heads of state and well-known personalities throughout the world. The list of eminent owners known to have purchased Moser glass is indeed lengthy and includes Queen Alexandra, and Queen Elizabeth II of England, King Alfonso XIII and Juan Carlos I of Spain, King Haakon VII of Norway and many others. Some months ago was the wedding table of Felipe, Crown Prince of Spain and his wife Letizia Ortiz laid with the table suite Copenhagen and the wedding table of Federic, Crown Prince of Denmark and his wife Mary Donaldson were laid with the table suite Splendid. To the present, Moser has been justifiably referred to as the "Glass of Kings".
Thanks to Ludwig Moser, his successors and the generations of Karlovy Vary glassmakers that followed, the Moser manufactory expanded and became a symbol in the history of the glassmakers´ art. From the start, Ludwig Moser focused on producing blown, hand-cut, engraved and painted glass. Moser glass soon gained a worldwide reputation for its quality, perfection of workmanship and artistry. For almost 150 years Moser Glassworks has produced luxury glassware and decorative items in classical and contemporary shapes. Style is not restricted to any one era or transient fashion. It is Moser's dedication to this principal that ensures the long-lasting beauty of Moser products.
