Modern Herend

Vince Stingl, who bought a plot of land in the village of Herend in 1826, let his dream come true: he founded a stoneware workshop and began experimenting with porcelain as well. But he had hardly been raising hope about a Manufactory today with the number of employees associate of more than 1000 and with a portrait of an unique porcelain sortiment. Several generations have left their mark on this period of 180 years and in this time the brand Herend is equal to sophisticated culture at the table as desired artistic quality. Vince Stingl, he had no room for these hopes but could have been dreaming about.

As Everyone at Herend: All are swayed by dreams. Someone by eccentric spinning of the curling sticks to make porcelain basket, Someone by cutting out decoration while following lines in relief that requires the same dexterity, Someone Else by demonic assembling the petals of roses, while Others, they are visioning the fire. Porcelain Painters are dreaming onto the glistening white porcelain surfaces far-eastern style motifs, butterflies, the nature's beauty and genres by accentuating and emphasising the nobility of the porcelain. Thousands of masterpieces come as miracles on the scene.

Every dream is burnt-in porcelain, burnt-in like 180 years' history with every moment of the past. Recalling a genuine Herend piece.

Herend follows its traditional line with craft character, time after time, only developing and somewhat pushing the bounds of techniques and technology. The manufactory is still sacred with Masters, who are dreaming of numerous shapes and motifs, still let their dreams come true and fulfill the ones of Others.

They at Herend, so excellently trained, have to build their product development work on the most demanding uses and then no one will be taken unawares. We would also venture to say, that Herend artists' ideas and works can stir the dreams into action again.
Let us share these dreams with you...

Throughout its past, Herend has been drawn to the sensuality of porcelain and now we present you these porcelaindreams only to discover that this delicately refined material possesses an unforgettable nature: we share an impression of a table for hunters' dinner, we invite you to a cosy Christmas, show you the awakening of the nature, the pulsation of summer time as the colourful autumn. You are to explore the countless animal figurines, the deepness of the endless sea, even the fascination of the Far-East. We spread experienced masters' fully-fledged dreams as the lively, vigorous first ones of Herend.

Adage of Herend: Our Past Is Our Future. This exhibition reflects this thought in particular. Being acquainted with the history of the Manufactory, for All Of Us at Herend the way is signed: the craft character of the technology and the nature of the hand-made porcelain are worth reflecting in this context of the 180 years, as it reveals departure from the world trends, time and time again.
Being devoted to the Past, this means our Future.

The Herend Porcelain Art Museum - let us say, the treasure retaining the most beautiful dreams of Herend - is celebrating the 180 jubilee year with this exhibition - is not recalling but foresighting now.

Just because these splendid miracles may bring recognition for Herend Porcelain for the upcoming decades while taking part in the jubilee, like the Victoria décor which pays tribute to its glorious 155 years' past.

Let dream with us!
