• School activities
The task of the institution and thus its primary mission is to provide intermediate level vocational training. The school operates vocational classes only. It trains students as part of a full time programme within the framework of a 3-year training programme, tutoring students to become porcelain painters, porcelain manufacturers and plaster cast makers.
  • History of the school
The school was founded in 1938, but the teaching of porcelain related professions looks back to an over 100-year-long tradition in Herend. The earliest data about the training of students is found in the annual fiscal registry of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory of 1858.
  • Professions
All three professions encompass the centuries of artistic porcelain-making know-how. Art products are shaped and decorated at the Herend Porcelain Manufactory exclusively by hand. The model makers, porcelain makers and porcelain painters strive to become the masters of their craft with skilful hands, excellent aesthetic sense, patience and a desire to create.

All three professions boast of centuries of artistic porcelain-making know-how. Art products are shaped and decorated at the Herend Porcelain Manufactory exclusively by hand. The model makers, porcelain makers and porcelain painters strive to become the masters of their craft with skilful hands, excellent aesthetic sense, patience and a desire to create.

Plaster cast makers create plaster models and plaster cast forms used in various fields of the ceramics and porcelain industries.

Porcelain makers create decorative and practical objects by hand shaping. Their specialities include the manufacture of hand-made porcelain flowers, decoration with embossing and making decorative objects with weaves.

Porcelain painters paint the porcelain exclusively by hand, and their work is characterised by delicate details and rich decorative elements. Herend porcelain is made valuable by decorations made with light finger movements and delicate brush strokes.

We, the late descendants of the founders, believe that the vocational training we provide today is not simply a legitimate succession to, but also a worthy continuation of that conscious and high quality educational and training work that has been practiced in the Manufactory for a long time. We believe that this Manufactory is capable of providing a high level of artistic and professional training that meets European standards, and consequently enables students to create world-renowned products.
