After a limited audience has gotten to know them last autumn - within the framework of the Autumn Festival of Museums - the Herend Porcelain Manufactory was proud to introduce its four tea specialties, of four different families of flavours.

The worthy debut of Herend teas took place on November 20, 2008, in the small salon of Cafe Gerbeaud. The venue was not coincidental either, as the cooperation of the two manifestly Hungarian venues/products - Gerbeaud and Herend – is also not recent. During the cool November evening, the steam rising from the teas in the cosy salon evoked the approaching Christmas.

The event was kicked off by the Dr. Attila Simon, the Managing Director of Herend Porcelain Manufactory, greeting invited guests and the representatives of the media, after which Mrs. Andrea Hunkár Jécsy, the developer of Herend teas, expressed her ideas on the process of creation. The creation of the teas was the result of cooperative thinking. The first step was the expression of the nature of the product. What had to be considered were the effects, emotions and ideas that the universe of flavours and scents of the prospective tea were meant to awaken in the consumer, and to have all this be a worthy representative of the Herend brand. For starters, a number of adjectives were designated that we first think of when we hear the brand name Herend; subsequently they have endeavoured to translate these, as ideals to be emulated, into the language of tea. These ideals are comprised of the adjectives of classical, elegant, traditional, long-lasting and high-quality. This is how the selection, satisfying various consumer demands as well, was born, containing black tea, green tea, rooibos tea and fruit tea too. The next step was laboratory work, followed by the creation of the recipes, a great deal of testing and refining, all the way until we possessed the teas that we have already created in our imaginations. The highly successful evening continued with the splendid tea history lecture of Gábor Tanács, and the song of Ildikó Pécsi, Kossuth-award winning actress, composed specifically for this occasion, and then concluded with the serving of the 4 kinds of tea, soon to be commercially available in the Manufactory’s brand store chain and at partnering resellers.

For a long time now Herend does not stand exclusively for porcelain; in all our products the equally defining characteristics are high quality and exclusivity. The brand name of Herend is a guarantee. Now in tea as well. Soon you will be able to read a more detailed description of the four kinds of Herend Teas in our website.
