The exhibition of the Herendi Porcelánmanufaktúra Zrt. opened on the day preceding the Anna-Ball, hosted by the upstairs exhibition space of the Kisfaludy Galéria. This was not the original debut of Herend porcelains at the exhibition venue located by the Tagore walkway, but this year’s event is definitely special. This is so because the exhibition, held under the title "Tradíció és megújulás" (Tradition and Renewal) is primarily focusing on what is new. The largest collection of novelties each year is the "Ambiente" Exhibition and Fair in Frankfurt: in 2008 its targeted theme was water. Here, on the shores of the Hungarian Sea this is an excellent and gratifying subject matter, thus the exhibition is aquatic in nature and also contemporary at the same time. Tradition and renewal: two key words in the history of Herend, as it must renew itself even while retaining its nearly two centuries of tradition.

The debut exhibition of Herend novelties – and of course a few traditional, can’t miss artefacts, such as the Balatonfüred platter or the porcelain copy of the crown, for instance – was opened by Munkácsy award winning industrial artist Károly Szekeres.

The relationship between Balatonfüred and Herend can look back upon a decade, primarily in connection with the Anna-Balls. Thanks to valuable professional and personal contacts, the capital of the Northern Coast and the Porcelain City have an ever growing number of joint appearances, something that can only be expected to continue in the future.

Interested visitors may view the Herend porcelains in Balatonfüred at the Kisfaludy Galéria until the end of summer.
