20. November 2007.
Singer Adrien Szekeres was Herend’s esteemed guest on November 16th. The refrain of the song that has nearly become a wedding anthem bore greater meaning and significance on this evening, however. The award ceremony of the Herend Photography competition took place before the concert, where the “best” of creative efforts, ideas, special photographs were awarded. There is no picture like the winner’s; we know it well.
On behalf of the judges’ panel, photographer Árpád Csikós evaluated and summarised the works that were entered in the photography competition, emphasising that as a worthy topic, artistic porcelains from Herend have inspired many professional and amateur photographers. A few truly fantastic works have shone with the light of true treasures. Based on the scoring of the judges’ panel, a special prize was awarded to the following: Zsolt Bak, Ákos Tamás, and Imre Wimmer. The 3rd place finalist, and therefore the winner of a package of publications valued at HUF 15,000: Dr. Erzsébet Karakó. The runner-up and therefore the winner of the Herend Porcelain Gift and the gift certificate of the Apicius Restaurant valued at HUF 15,000: Tamás Böröcz. The grand prize, sponsored by the Hasik Hotel, was a 2-person, half-board weekend getaway, as well as a Herend Porcelain Gift and the gift certificate of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory, was won by Irén Udvarházi. The prizes were handed over by the manager of the Hotel, Mr. Béla Tóth, and the production manager of the Herendi Porcelánmanufaktúra Zrt., Mr. Gábor Glück. The internet viewer’s choice award was won by Mrs. Máriás Bernadett Boross’ photograph, and so she is now a proud owner of a Herend porcelain; a recipient of an Apicius gift certificate, and via the sponsorship of the Szentgotthárd Thermal Park, she can immerse herself in the world of Mediterranean luxury. Congratulations to the winners!
After announcing the results, the audience in the crammed-to-the-gills Apicius Café had the opportunity to listen to singer Adrien Szekeres’s unplugged concert, a laughing and crying, lyrical, dancing feat, while at the same time a light-hearted, poignant, magical and deeply human experience. The way that the applause did not want to die down, the coming together of the singing, the teardrops, the magic, the power of the moment, the artist, her fellow musicians, and the audience was a noteworthy conclusion of the Herend events of the “Autumn Festival of Museums”. It also transformed the refrain into a fundamental truth, whether applied to Herend porcelain, the winning photograph, the exceptional singer, or the audience for that matter: “There is no other like you, I know it well…”.
