Papal Audience - His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI recieved in his audience Dr. Attila Simon, general manager of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory Ltd., in attendance upon HE Prof. Gábor Erdődy, Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to the Vatican State.
In the solemn year of the jubilee, on the gleaming occasion of the 80th birthday and the 2nd year of the pontificate His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory wished to show respect on the memorable anniversaries to the person of His Holiness and the institution he embodies.
The Herend Porcelain Manufactory benevolently commended the millenary of the birth of Prince Emeric - who was canonised for his pious life and purity - to the attention of His Eminence, by offering a present of Herend Porcelain, a hand crafted masterpiece, a figurine of Prince Saint Emeric painted by Herend masters with particular care and workmanship.
This exceptional attendance was accomplished with the help of the Apostolic Nunciature. Herend Porcelain has been deemed many times as the most fitting Hungarian gift for His Holiness John Paul II, both on the occasion of his visits to Hungary and when Hungarian dignitaries visited the Vatican. We would like to mention the present of diocesan Győr, a vase of Herend Porcelain depicting a tearful Virgin Mary figure weeping tears of blood.
