Herend Porcelain Manufactory to Participate in Auction to Benefit Victims of the Floods in Transylvania

"For Hungarian Arts" Prize for the victims of the floods in Transylvania - 15th December.

The Board of Trustees of the Prize For Hungarian Arts has authorized Chairman Lajos Gubcsi to accept offers of works from earlier prize-winner artists cultivating both fine and applied arts, as well as from architects and photographers, in order to stage an auction for the benefit of the victims of floods in Transylvania, and to announce the auction on the website of the Prize For Hungarian Arts:

In accordance with the resolution of the Board of Trustees, the works of art donated by the winners of the Prize For Hungarian Arts to be auctioned off for the benefit of the victims of floods in Transylvania are to go under the hammer in a low-key and internationally more favoured fashion instead of the conventional bidding with a declared starting price.

The work of art donated by the Herend Porcelain Manufactory is called "The Four Seasons", one of the most precious items in the series entitled "The Garden of Women" by ceramist Katalin Szávoszt. The piece was commissioned by the Herend Porcelain Manufactory and manufactured with the help of Herend masters.

The figurine depicts the world of women with all the features that characterise being a woman: naturalness, kindness, a touch of eroticism and effortless role-play, with each one capturing a certain moment in time, that of relaxation and that of pondering, which are so important in a woman's life.

These figurines are cast in a mould and their exterior is hand made, which technique is a unique way of stretching the limits of porcelain thinness and transparency. The resulting product is a genuinely unmatched piece of porcelain perfection.
