La Estancia Polo Club, Etyek, May 6-8, 2005
The Herend Porcelain Manufactory was for the second time running one of the major sponsors of "La Estancia Polo Open" in 2005.
Given the sophisticated nature of polo, most of the invited guests represented the upper crust of Hungarian society ranging from leading entrepreneurs to media personalities. Among Herend's guests Tivadar and Mimi Farkasházy, Dr. Imre Galambos, Márta Derry (Szidónia Palace Hotel), György Habsburg, Béla Ernyey, Tamás Vahl as well as top managers of banks and hotels attended the event.
Altogether some five hundred people became familiar with the Herend Porcelain Manufactory through information about the Manufactory and its products on display.
They also watched the painters and rose-making masters perform their meticulous work. The more adventurous were even invited to try their hand at making roses, which drew a substantial crowd to the Herend stand, making our presence all the more obvious.
The ladies' hats competition was another colourful event of the day.
The Herend team won the tournament, and an Argentine polo player became the best individual participant.
The Herend cup prizes were handed over to the winners by Robert Somogyi, CCO, Deputy General Director of the Manufactory.
The event was further graced by a special pierced porcelain platter, which was later displayed at the Hotel Show staged in Dubai. The point of interest of the platter is that one of the two polo players painted on it recognizably portrays Uwe Zimmermann, owner of La Estancia Polo Open, the main organizer of the Polo Open tournament.
