The formal opening of the fourth brand shop of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory in Budapest took place on 8 December 2005. Dr. Attila Simon, CEO, and István Verók, Mayor of Terézváros, symbolically cut the tricolour ribbon to mark the opening of the store at 16 Andrássy út, the famously elegant avenue situated in the heart of the capital.
The location was selected with great care. The Belvedere brand shop, next to the Opera House, surrounded by classic and trendy cafés and designer shops inviting locals and tourists alike, hopes to also attract Hungarian shoppers who cherish cultural values and quality.
The aim of the Manufactory now is to boost sales revenues by placing a greater emphasis on sales, approaching customers directly through its brand shops and working together with some strategic partners.
At the same time with the opening, a new collection called My First Herend Piece was launched. The miniature pieces: delicate brooches, incense burners, paperweights, are as finely handcrafted as any piece of the brand, and they can be purchased at affordable prices.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dalma Mádl, wife of former President Dr. Ferenc Mádl, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the media and loyal Herend customers.
Participants enjoyed a slide show about the history of Herend china and the crafting of "My First Herend Piece", with background music provided by the famous violinist, Barnabás Kelemen.
