Japanese President of Matsushita Electric Co. Ltd. Visits Herend

Mr. Yoichi Morishita, President of Matsushita Electric Co. Ltd., which owns the world famous brand name of Panasonic, visited Herend on 14 October 2004. The president was accompanied by Mr. Hitoshi Otsuki, head of the Central European Region at Matsushita, and by Mr. István Stark, CEO of Panasonic Hungary.

In Herend, the guests were received by Managing Director Sándor Polányi, Sales Director Mrs. Andrea Jécsy-Hunkár and Board Member Sándor Kiss, former commercial counsellor in Tokyo.

The guests visited the trade showroom where they gained an insight into the Manufactory's history and products. They walked through several painting and master's workshops and could see for themselves the process of painting by hand each item of Herend porcelain, which is so very popular in Japan.

Herend has been present in the extremely demanding Japanese market for some 25 years now. With this year's turnover of over 2.5 million dollars - at delivery prices - Japan is the Manufactory's second largest foreign market at the moment.

The delegation of Matsushita Co. Ltd. came to Hungary on the occasion of the Asia@Hungary Information Technology Forum held in Budapest on 14-15 October 2004. At this year's event China, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand exhibited their "best practices" in the field of information technology and telecommunications.
