Chinese Minister for Information Industry Visits Herend

The Chinese Minister for Information Industry, Mr. Wang Xudong, visited Herend on Tuesday, 12 October. The guest was accompanied by H.E. Zhu Zushou, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Hungary.

In the course of the available brief two hours, Managing Director Sándor Polányi and Sales Director Mrs. Andrea Jécsy-Hunkár guided the guests through the trade showroom of the Manufactory and the principal porcelain painting workshops.
The minister, who showed vivid interest in the Herend products, was informed of plans to focus company strategy on the Chinese market in future. As the first palpable sign of that the first Herend brand shop opened its doors in Shanghai recently. Its official inauguration is scheduled for early next year.
At the end of the visit, Managing Director Sándor Polányi presented Mr. Wang Xudong with a special vase made by young Herend artists.

The Chinese minister visited Hungary on the occasion of the Asia@Hungary Information Society Forum held on 14-15 October 2004.
