Her Excellency, Ms Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Hungary, who was sworn into office this past January, paid a visit to the Herend Porcelain Manufactory today.

Guests were greeted at the Manufactory by CEO Dr Attila Simon. During her visit, the Ambassador, a distinguished Northern California businesswoman, showed keen interest in the Hungarian economic environment and the state of the Manufactory.

She was happy to learn that the United States has, for decades, been the largest market of the profitable Manufactory. A collector herself, her Excellency spoke with enthusiasm about Herend Porcelain, and noted that the hand-crafted masterpieces of Herend are timeless in both value and beauty. Following the discussion, Ms Kounalakis caught a glimpse of the porcelain manufacturing process, starting from raw clay to forming and painting by hand, and had the rare opportunity to try herself at both.
