Apicius, originally the name of a gourmet of Roman origin, is a restaurant and café, which has been serving customers since 1999 in the Porcelanium visitor centre. Our catering business owes both its name and its knowledge of the art of cooking to that most famous of all gourmets of ancient Rome, author of the first cookery book. Herend porcelain being a reminiscence of past glories through its handicraft masterpieces, the not-so-hidden relationship between culinary joys and works of art is there for us to discover. Our cooks are masters of culinary arts, so that you can eat and enjoy the best of meals out of the best of Herend table service sets. In addition to our buildings and facilities, this page will acquaint you with the menu of meals, sharing with you various recipes and even helping you with your selection of venues and dining alternatives for unique, once-in-a-lifetime events to make them really unforgettable: all this in a place worthy of being called "royal". To end our introduction to our pages, here are the thoughts of Pál Eszterházy – whose name and the history of Herend are inseparable – "The cook's achievement is ephemeral, the better the taste, the shorter the life of the meal."
