“Herendtrend” exhibition in the Palace of the Arts

Courageous, unusual, special show of Herend Porcelain

Even only a few years after its foundation the Herend Porcelain Manufactory (founded in 1826) enjoyed the support and patronage of royalty, emperors, nobility and other prominent persons. For 182 years Herend has been keeping its traditions of quality and perfection in artisan work and Herend is known and recognized worldwide for its beautiful luxury porcelains. Herend is part of the Hungarian Heritage and is a founding member of the Hungaricum Club. Herend is the largest porcelain manufactory in Europe and its name equals sparkling perfection.

In addition to well known décors - for example the Victoria design named after Queen Victoria, who first ordered it - Herend is ahead of the game in both product development and creating and designing new products. It has always been the case that the most famous designers of the time created in Herend and it continues to be so in the new millennium. The Herend Studio has been years and even decades ahead of its competitors and continually shows the world what specialty items can be made out of porcelain by the hands of masters. Every year, the possibilities are open for external designers, applicants to competitions and basically any employee of Herend to create any number of striking, modern and special porcelain objects or décor.

This exhibition serves the purpose of showing modern forms, special applications and 21st century decoration styles. It is intended on breaking the stereotype that Herend only produces baroque, old-fashioned décors and shapes. This exhibition parades the most recent, the most special and the most striking designs out of the 16,000 shapes and 4,000 décors. The Palace of the Arts provides an excellent interior for showing the new face of Herend, the modern face of Herend, Herend in a different way, extraordinary Herend.

The exhibition will be open in the Festival Area at the Palace of Arts between 20 September and 15 October. Admittance is free.
