The Central Café that opened its doors in 1887 was the place where the latest news conference of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory was hold in the beginning of March. The Central was predestined to become the centre of intellectual life in Budapest very soon after its opening. The old Central Café was characterized by historicism and eclecticism. Today the place portrays respect for traditions and openness to new ideas. Just like Herend.
Herend intended to attract news coverage for its Novelties 2008, first shown at the Ambiente in Frankfurt; the People & Potteries European travelling exhibition; the launch of herend.com sites and the introduction of the Herend Royal Butterfly, a noble porcelain and royal jewellery, exclusively fashioned in a limited quantity.
