A Herend Shop opens in Beijing on September 9th.
The Manufactory opened its first Chinese shop in early 2005 in Shanghai. This was a highly significant event because China is the ancient home of porcelain, having manufactured it for over 1000 years.
Although the Shanghai shop only opened for business half a year ago, its results and experiences so far have been so remarkable that Herend, along with its Chinese partner, the Longwise firm, decided to open a new shop in Beijing as well. Besides its importance as a retail centre, the new shop is making a major contribution to the further successful marketing of the Herend brand in the region.
The shop can be found in the Beijing Oriental Plaza, next to the Rolls Royce auto saloon, and occupies some 100 square metres of floor space. Its ceremonial opening took place on September 9th, 2005. It was a major event, with Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány and his wife in attendance as well as four other Hungarian ministers. In addition, members of the Beijing political and economic elite were also present at the ceremony.
Of Herend products, the shop currently places greatest emphasis on painted services with the internationally best known patterns - Victoria, Apponyi, Rothschild - as well as favourite ornamental objects and figures.
The shop's range is continually expanding to give a true representation of the Herend Manufactory's immense range of products.
