19. January 2005.
The Herend Porcelain Manufactory, in collaboration with its Chinese partner, officially opened its first brand shop in Shanghai, the largest city in China, on the evening of January 14.
This is no mean feat considering that China is the cradle of porcelain-making where china porcelain has been turned out for over 1000 years.
A metropolis of 12 million inhabitants, Shanghai is one of the most dynamically developing cities in the world today, a place that enchants all visitors with its state-of-the art skyscrapers, the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the range of products it offers to shoppers.
The Herend Shop opened in the Shanghai Hongqiao Friendship Store, one of the most elegant shopping centres in the metropolis. Occupying 100 square metres of store space, the shop steadily enhances its stocks on offer in order to adequately represent the millions of items made in the Herend Porcelain Manufactory. While dinner sets with the most sought-after décors, such as the Victoria, Apponyi and India Basket, constitute the bigger part of the goods in stock, Herend ornaments and figurines are also available at the shop.
(As a point of interest, the inauguration of the shop coincided with the opening of a consulate of the Republic of Hungary in Shanghai.)
