15. July 2004.
The Seventh Junior Taekwon-do World Championship was organised in Riccione, Italy between July 7th and 10th, 2004. One of the Hungarian participants was a young man from Herend, who was able to compete with support from the Manufactory.
Péter Darnai, who competes for the Herend Porcelain SK Taekwon-do class, won a silver medal as part of the Hungarian team in the Team Power Test event. He literally kicked the team into the silver medal when as the final competitor, he executed a perfect manoeuvre. Péter's trainer, Miklós Pátkai, had no small part in this success. Among the judges at the competition was Zoltán Pátkai, who besides the usual 'bronze' commemorative medal, received a "gold medal" from the international association for his work.
293 competitors from 32 countries took part at the world championship, and the Hungarian team took home 4 silver medals.
We heartily wish that all the young competitors will go on to earn further praise and success as they compete in the Hungarian national colours!
